Hayri Atak | Futuristic architecture, unique prediction of parametric design
Q1:
Under what circumstances did you set up the studio three years ago? Could you share with us?
“I am very pleased that we made this interview and thank you for your interest. From the first day I established my design studio HAADS which we have realized as a team with the effect of my production identity as a constant follower and a great supporter of today’s design developments, has aimed to make productions one step beyond the foundation where technology and architecture are together and grown. One of the biggest factors which led me to bear these concerns is undoubtedly the design and architecture schools that i had the opportunity to absorb through out my education life. At this point, i can say that i was in an interdisciplinary study circulation through out my university education and with the architectural education i received at AuburnUniversity and the subsequent NABA education i always had the chance to observe both different cultures and special and precious design phenomena, so i followed platforms where i could view the whole perspective rather than a mere interior space teaching. In addition, i had the chance to gain quite new experiences with different productions in the sector for a long time and when i put my own studio in 2017 the mtost valuable concept was to create a more free and original production area. In this context, as HAADS we have made it our ultimate goal to take more futuristic, bolder and more progressive steps.”
Q2:
Your concept project in Manhattan, New York: sarcostyle tower has attracted worldwide attention. Could you share with us how this inspiration comes from?
“Thank you. Sarco style was a concept project which we have been planning to design by HAADS for a long time. Our biggest source of inspiration and motivation in this matter was the organism. On this interpretations specific to a cell or tissue can also be made, but we think that it is open to many different images with the concept of organism and its most basic philosophy lies in this manifestation.If we make a more detailed analysis in this respect, Sarco style has steps that work like a tissue in the whole process. Its attitude to wards the other buildings next to him is quite calm and sensitive. It creates a balance which seems to make some touches to them from time to time but that includes this contact under fav our of the spaces it has. While achieving this we aimed to realize a different yet elegant structure within the city sky line.”

Will it really appear in Manhattan?
Sarco style is a concept project work. I would like to state and emphasize that there is no work to take place in Manhattan. The static and structural fact or of the buildings are of course has a great importance in the studies we present and are not overlooked, but at this point, I think that our concern to produce spaces with the spirit and excitement should be our supreme apprehension as architects. The greatest tool to develop this concern is fear less lines, bold work and steps for designers. Such searching lines lie into background of the work done in order to carry out the processes in this way and to realize the impressive glow in the mind of the designer, with or without a real implementation plan. When we look at it from this perspective we can call Sarco style a kind of brainstorming.
