VV& | Vincent Schwenk ‘Multiple values of interdisciplinary artists’

theFOUND Virtual Art Center this TALK with Vincent schwenk, a 3D designer, an artist, a director, a motion designer or even just someone who loves to teach from Germany.

Vincent schwenk has always regarded V.SK as an artist and has become a benchmark in the industry with high-level 3D dynamic videos. With futuristic and bright visual language and smooth dynamic description, his work style and design concept are representative among German 3D artists. Vincent schwenk co-founded VV& studio with his friend Vitaly Grossmann.

Vincent schwenk thinks it's hard to explain what he did because he has too many identities: 3D designer, artist, director, dynamic designer, etc., and even just a designer who likes teaching. But these identity tags do not really reflect what he created: Futurism, candy colored spots and smooth shapes. From 3D art design of enterprise brand projects, or from teaching identity to 3D animation, his skills and interests are applied to any field. Vincent schwenk, as a typical interdisciplinary artist, has not only gained extensive attention and recognition in commercial art, but also insisted on spreading his design experience to more people who love art and design, from holding seminars and courses in universities to online lectures and technical teaching guidance, His teaching experience is very extensive. Vincent schwenk talked about the values of creation. For him, if it feels happy in creation, it will already have a value.

Q1:

You have many identities, including 3D designer, artist, director and 3D educator. Every professional role is excellent. Can you briefly introduce VV&?

Yes, that’s true, I have quite a lot of interests and therefore I am working on different identities. V.SK is the one which I mostly use in the context of education, as an artist I many use my full name. Actually V.SK comes from my name: Vincent Schwenk. Besides from that, I also have a studio with a good friend of mine Vitaly Grossmann and together we are working as VV&.

Q2:

What is your opportunity to establish VV&? What are the differences between different roles?

I am not trying to focus on one specific market or region. I am acting as an international artist and I am trying to reach all different parts of the world. Which is actually also kinda nice to see that so many people scattered around the world are enjoying my work.

I actually never planed becoming a teacher. My original plan was just to be able to do my (often daily) artworks and that I am happy in the process of creation. Over time more and more people asked me how I did certain things. And because I didn’t want to respond to every single one, I decided to record the answers and start to share my knowledge. And about the second part of the question: My work always concentrates on design therefore the roles aren’t changing that much, I always try to get the best possible result, doesn’t matter if it is for a client, for myself or for my students.

Q3:

Your works usually have unique colors and dynamic descriptions, which are usually inspired by your creativity?

That’s true, I love the colors, they create a stronger impression, it helps telling a visual story. It also gives my work a bigger variety, if you compare it to all my renders. But in general, I can get my inspiration from everywhere. Sometimes I see something on the streets, or I have an idea in the shower, or someone else inspires me with his work.

Q4:

In terms of business project cooperation, V.SK continues to break the cognitive common sense and expand product features. How do you balance design philosophy with business value?

When I started working for commercial clients, I had to do what they were telling me. But over time clients started to recognize my own style. And wanted their products seen in that world. For the „black“ project (with Tylko) the brand very much trusted me and therefore I was free to express their vision.

Q5:

How do you explain the impact and advantages of 3D art in helping brand output?

I think 3D can very much help to bring the ideas of clients to life. I also think that in a totally digitalized world, it will become even more relevant.

Q6:

At present, the Metaverse industry has a huge demand for 3D modeling environment. Digital experience requires higher quality and more realistic 3D modeling space. What do you think are the obstacles or new opportunities to achieve this goal?

This is a very difficult question, as a 3D artist I can decently see myself somehow connected with the Metaverse, but how and when is still totally unclear for me.

I think there are many obstacles, but I am very positive to be able to find interesting solutions the future as well.

Q7:

Are more national languages supported in 3D teaching? Such as Chinese?

I am already recording all my tutorials in English, so I am able to reach more people. But it would be great to translate them into Chinese as well. But I think with the help of AI this should be relatively easy.

Q8:

In the future, what new attempts will you have, and what new areas do you hope to challenge and create greater value?

There are so many interesting things I wanna learn in the future. Currently I am trying to understand Houdini. But a bit more further in the future, I think real time rendering will be unavoidable. The concept of value in relation to my work is also very interesting, for myself, it already has value if it gives me joy while creating. Financially, I of course hope that my work can create value to finance my family, but I am very optimistic about that.
